rear brakes on my chevy question

there has to be a trick to this.
When I replaced the rear pads on my wife's honda, I tried the c-clamp. It didn’t work. I googled it. I found a video that explained that I had to wind it in like a screw…

If you removed the calipers is it possible you put a twist in the brake line when you bolted them back on? I had that happen to me once in all my brake changing experience. I changed the front brakes on my wife's minivan. This required removing the caliper from the rotors. Some how when I bolted them back on I had rotated the caliper placing a twist in the rubber brake line. I drove it down the street and felt an immediate drag after pressing the brake peddle. When I stopped to get out the rotor was red and smoke was coming from the pads. Just a thought.
