Hey guys,
Never done it before, only recently got into building ARs, and maybe this is a silly question, but can you put any rail on any upper receiver?
I’ve got an Aero pistol rail that got messed up a bit, and I’ve since put a flaming Pig. I’m looking to add a longer rail and maybe some resale value with a rail I found online, and not sure if I should buy it if they wouldn’t be compatible. Any insight would be appreciated.
Semper Fi,

With the exception of some billet upper receivers, most any rail made for an AR15 will fit on most any AR15 upper.

Since the Aero S-One rail you have on there now fits your upper, there's no reason why the Noveske NSR-11 won't work perfectly.

If you are trying to get a rail that will fit over your Flaming Pig, make sure that the ID of the rail is going to be larger than the OD of the Flaming Pig, which is 1.2".

The Noveske NSR-11 rail pictured has an ID of 1.35". That should work with your Flaming Pig, but it's tight. The difference between 1.2" and 1.35" is 3/20" or 15/100".

Thanks for the info sir! I guess the problem I saw was where the screw in holes on the noveske are placed compared to where they are on the aero.

I’ve got a bench setup in the city so if you need any assistance for the swap, feel free to hit me up man
GyroBro03 GyroBro03 same offer, I’m in Tucker. If you are getting the Noveske rail don’t forget the barrel nut tool also.

The new rail comes with a new barrel nut, that the new rail attaches to.

In order to install the new rail, you’ll have to remove the Flaming Pig, and the gas block.

Then remove the old barrel nut. Clean the receiver threads, and apply fresh AeroShell64 grease. Torque the new barrel nut to spec, stretching/seasoning the threads first. The directions that come with the rail may have a specific method of doing this. If not, tighten to spec, then loosen. Do this 4-5 times. Don’t use the torque wrench to loosen with.

Reinstall the gas block and the Flaming Pig. If the gas block is held in place with set screws, replace the set screws with new ones. If the barrel isn’t dimpled for set screws, this is the perfect time to do so.

I tighten muzzle devices to 20ft/lbs.

Install the rail, per instructions.

If you want to come by TruPrep in Marietta, I can do all of this for you, but I’ll have to charge you shop fees.
