AR15 Newbie- Smith Wesson M&P Sport II or Colt Expanse CE2000 for first timer

Of these two choices only, and only these two choices, which one would you prefer and why?

Major differences that I know of the Colt is a 1:7 barrel and the S&W is a 1:9, if I recall correctly. I think the Colt is not chrome lined and the Smith is?

I've gone with the S&W MP Sport...no complaints.

Edit: upon looking further, the Expanse doesn’t seem to have a dust cover, forward assist, or rear sight. That would definitely make me take the Smith.

Colt Expanse CE1000 has no dust cover and operable forward assist. I am referring to the Expanse CE2000 which has the dust cover and forward assist.

Ah, got you. In that case, I’d buy the cheaper of the two. Spend that extra on ammo and shoot it.
