I've been kicking around the idea for awhile and am finally going through with it. Picked up an old Spanish Mauser action, got a Rhineland Arms Mauser conversion kit, and am going to put it all in an ATI stock. Then a trip to Dobbs Defense for cerakote, threading and bent bolt and knob.

Here's what I have now:

Should be a cool little host! :thumb:

Hmmm....wrinkle #1.

I didn't realize (because I have poor visual comprehension skills apparently) that this ATI stock does not require the use of the bottom metal. So that means that, instead of just removing the magfloor from the bottom metal of the original action, I'm going to have to dremel out the hole in the bottom of the stock where the mag block need to come out.

didn't the Brit's do a silenced 45acp bolt gun in WW2?

Yeah, the DeLisle was my inspiration to do this. I had talked to Dobbs about building one and we went back and forth for a bit on it....but then I saw the video below and realized that while a DeLisle would be probably the trickest rifle I owned, I could get into a .45 bolt rig for about $1500 less and have the same sense of "neat." This build will also allow me to modernize the rifle somewhat. Plus, no ATF wait list on this!

That's a pretty cool rifle! I have something similar, a Mossberg MVP converted to 300 blackout. Its bolt-action and magazine fed as well, and the 220gr subsonic loads will provide the same energy as the .45ACP. I think the blk keeps its energy for a little while longer though! The crown is threaded to take a suppressor, so it can be really quiet if need be. Looks like a fun project! Cant wait to see it!
