One stop prep shop

I believe someone said the prices are not correct on the website and also that they wanted to know if anybody locally was selling for less. The website shows Ramshot Tac powder for $33.95. I just bought a pound about a week ago in Holly Springs for either $21 or $23, I don't remember which -- I'd have to get up and go look and I'm too lazy. It looks like most of the other prices were more or less in the ballpark for local prices -- but there are Internet sources which beat local prices by several dollars a pound if purchased in 8 lb. quantities even with the $25 hazardous material charge and shipping.

I visited a couple of weeks ago. Very good selection, Don seems to be a pretty knowledgeable and nice guy. Prices are fair, and even better than fair for some of the products I've bought elsewhere. It's hard to beat online retailers when they are having 25% off sales on Mountain House with free shipping. That said, I don't mind supporting local businesses if the difference in price is reasonable and I appreciate having a shop like this less than 30 minutes from my home and work.

I really liked the fact that I could buy bulk ammo and decent magazines without having to answer nosy questions from my postman. I'll be buying some 5.56 from these guys as the case prices are pretty good if you buy two or more.

Good selection of food storage accessories, freeze dried foods, etc.

A couple of price comparisons:

Wise 60 serving entree

Kudzu:$99.00
Cheaper than Dirt:$82.13(warehouse B), $99.97(warehouse A)

OD Paracord 1000' roll

Kudzu: $64.95
Cheaper than Dirt:$49.97

Blast Match fire starter:

Kudzu:$24.49
Cheaper than Dirt:$17.97

Have to add S&H from Cheaper than Dirt but depending on order size sales tax offsets most of that.

Yep, thre are price differences. I'm interested in saving a buck as well. But the ability to walk in and actually talk to a shop owner, see the product and pay cash with no electronic trail is of high importance. Running a brick and mortar location with typical local sales volume is more expensive than doing business directly from a website with a warehouse in the background.

My purchases seem to be 50% internet, 50% retailer unless I'm buying used stuff.

blast match ctd...$29.92 with shipping and handling vs. $25.96 at kudzu including tax

the 60 serving is either about $8.02 less from ctd or $11.39 more depending on the warehouse

you save $4.87 on the paracord...

we do our best to be competitive on everything we carry...if we can't be we generally won't carry an item....sales tax does not go in the store's pocket it goes to the state of ga and the county....i would prefer you shop with us and keep the money local but that is your choice...we will continue to do everything we can to be competitive and to give you good service.

I agree. Whenever reasonable I prefer to support local businesses. The order I placed today was for 1000' of OD paracord, a 60 entree bucket of Wise food, 2 Esbit stoves and 2 blast matches. Total with S&H? 204.77. Priced all that at TrueWilderness with tax and S&H and it's $268.77. I'm about 70 miles from Marietta so shipping is smarter than driving. Under those conditions it just doesn't make sense to spend $64 more for the same merchandise.

I WISH I could shop locally for these things, but aside from Wal Mart I have one gun shop in town and they don't do survival items.

I tihnk your prices are if you order one at a time of each item and pay S&H for that one item. That WOULD indeed be crazy and the price would be nuts. Also, while we all know sales tax doesn't go into the stores profit, it still comes out of the consumers. It's understandable that many business want to have sales tax on internet sales to level the playing field in that regard. Until/unless that happes, state sales tax is a burder local business must deal with when comepeting, however unfair it may be, The bottom line is still what the buyer pays. If I were up your way I would be happy to come in and shop with you. Whenever possible(well reasonable) I shop my local gun store for guns and accessories, but when the difference is 30%, my money has to go where it goes farther.
