I could be totally wrong but I would love to hear from a LEO on this question.

I am not sure what GCIC has to say about it, but I have run every handgun that I have traded/bought from the forum. The only issue arrises if it comes back flagged and LEOs have to be called to take possession of weapon until it is worked out (as it was w/ OS). I have asked dispatch if they will do it for the public and told yes, there is no problem w/ doing that. It isn't a perk of being in LE. Saying all this, I am NOT GCIC certified (beyond the basic Integrity Class) and can not say w/ 100% authority that this is true, just what I have been told.

Did you know that now LEO has cameras on their cars that automatically run your tags on their own. Running the numbers on a gun is totally different from running tags. You don't get any personal info all it says is if it is stolen or not. It wasn't misuse of authority
