I have a pile of manuals too. I use an old Hodgdon's manual for comparison. I use a 2nd edition Lee often too. I try to use the bullet manufacture's manual for my rifle loads. In high pressure rounds, a bullets shape and composition can make a huge difference in a hurry. I usually ain't that picky about the straight walled handgun stuff.
The ABCs of Reloading is outstanding for procedure. I got my first taste of reloading using that book and getting my hands dirty. It's a great place to start.
