New here! Interested in a Colt 1851 Navy need help with what to look for!

Hey guys! Came across this forum while looking for some help. Just signed up! Very interested in getting a Colt model from the civil war, and came across this one

It looks awesome, but I don't know what to look for when it comes to authenticity, worth, condition, etc.. I understand that it's important to look for matching SNs. This one in particular claims that it was once owned by Colonel Robert Cowdin, based on the inscription. Is an inscription enough of a credible way to say that it was owned by him? It also states that the hammer screw was replaced. How badly does that hurt its value? How do I spot a fake or a counterfeit? Any helpful info or tips i can use will be extremely helpful! I need to know what to look out for. Thank you!

For that kind of money you want a colt or civil war specific forum !

I think it's over priced for the condition. If you remove it's ownership history, a similar Colt would be in the $2000 range give or take a few hundred. I'm not sure how much value it's particular ownership adds as the guy wasn't really a famous person.
