Need some Knife making help

So iv been doing knife making close to a year now been using 1060 steel mostly. but have been going to knife shows and seeing a lot of knifes made out of files. can’t find any for sale anywhere anyone know where I could get a hold of some? And if so is their anything I need to know about with working with them?

Yard sales, Garage sales, Antique shops. I always look LOW,
on the floor or 1st shelf up.
File steel makes AWESOME blades!!

Flea markets are my best source. All of a sudden theres a basket full. Anneal prior to hamering or grinding.

Haha I’ll have to check out a few places then anything I need to know about working with files?

Every now and then youll see a post on FB Marketplace of a family cleaning out a shop or garage and letting tools and etc go for dirt cheap. Not uncommon to get a handful of files for less than $5

I have a pretty good size piece of 1095 and one of 1060 I would let go cheap if anyone wanted but would have to be picked up. I am talking probably 3" of one and 4" of the other. Leftovers from my knife making attempts a few years ago.
