Looking to see if I can get any assist on identifying the year model and info on a Smith I picked up a few weeks ago. Looks to be in decent shape, no pitting, fair bluing (possibly reblued?) SN is 220xxx. So far I have found out the wooden grips are a later make (thanks Mikey357) , and a secondary SN Lxxxxx (hard to read...) poorly engraved on it. No made in USA stamp on frame, but a four lined patents pending and made in on barre. M&P definitely, pre 10 (no model number on yoke). 6 shot cylinder K frame. Rear sights are very very narrow (accuracy?) sitting behind a 4" barrel. If anyone has any input or can help date this piece I would definitely appreciate it! Can provide more pictures if needed!

Thanks ODT!

Rob

looks a lot like an early 70's model I once had but Mikey and JWC are way ahead of me on these

From the serial number, ejector rod knob, patent dates on barrel and large logo on side plate it looks like it is a .38 Military & Police Model of 1905- 3rd change.

Serial number range is 146900-241703 with 94,803 manufactured from 1909- 1915.

I'd say yours was 1915.

Definitely incorrect stocks....should have stocks like these..
