Just a hint on assembling a Garand bolt. I can't remember how I did it years ago, but had a devil of a time getting it done the other day.
What I did:
Screw a sheetrock screw into the edge of my bench, just shy of flush.
Take a pair of cheap pliers and wrap some blue tape around the jaws.
Throw the parts in the bolt and press the ejector in with the head of the sheetrock screw.
Put gentle pressure on the extractor with the pliers. Done.
It took way longer to type this out than it took to assemble the bolt. I can assemble in 10 to 20 seconds now.
eta: While you can disassemble with nothing but a screwdriver, I used a M10 tool. Very easy to lift the extractor out.
