Sorry guys. Put something up since I'm slacking.


I'll throw something new out here for us to think about.

This revolver is a standard factory production model-- Not a prototype or custom build.


This first pic showed the gun laying across its own holster, a dark leather full-flap holster. I crudely edited out much of that, and other stuff that was junking up the pic --leaving just the gun.

Colt M1878, also known as a “Philippine” or “Alaskan”.

The variant pictured above had a stronger mainspring with a longer trigger to provide more leverage and make it easier to pull. The larger trigger guard is to accommodate it.

The stronger mainspring was to reliably ignite the .45 Government round, which was basically a .45 Colt with a less sensitive primer.

This variant was purchased by the US Ordnance Dept to arm the Philippine Constabulary in 1902, hence “Philippine Model”.

Some thought the larger trigger guard was to accommodate a gloved finger, therefore the misnomer “Alaskan Model”.
