My father has had this knife for so long that he can’t remember much about it. There are no markings on it. It’s a folding ratcheting knife that has an attached metal release. Any help with intel on it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ODTers.

No metal inside at all. It’s just the naked wooden handles.Hmmmm. Inside the handle where the blade rests when closed, is it lined with a layer of metal?
It honestly looks Egyptian and very old.
I’ve never seen anything like it. Very rustic and rudimentary. From the looks of it, I think it’s pretty old
It probably is. The navaja has been around since the 17th century. I think it is the oldest currently produced knife. It was designed to be a fighting knife. The ratcheting sound was supposed to strike fear into the hearts of their enemy. Kind of like the mythical racking of the shotgun today. The ratchet also prevented the knife, under load from above, from closing on the user's hand and separating his fingers from same. Synonymous with gypsies, tramps, and thieves....so to speak. It's not very valuable, though, if you were hoping for that.I’ve never seen anything like it. Very rustic and rudimentary. From the looks of it, I think it’s pretty old
I've never seen a damascus navaja, if that's what you're asking. Are there swirls in the blade metal?
I zoom in but can’t make out much. If that from the 1500’s then, WoWI've never seen a damascus navaja, if that's what you're asking.
