The metal lid is there because they chewed through the top of the feeder last year.

You know the aluminum wire that you use to attach chain link fence to the poles. They ate it all top to bottom on 300 feet of fence.
They are menaces

$4,000 to squirrel proof my house in St Marlo so I don’t care much for the little tree rats.
I have a small Hav-a-Hart trap (because the last tree rat my wife saw me shoot caused all manner of hell).
I have moved over 50 squirrels and 30 chipmunks in the last two years. But my neighbor keeps throwing peanuts out to them every day, so I'm not making much headway. Must be over a hundred of the little bastards still in the subdivision.
