Honestly, who would buy a Ducati?

exactly and congrats on two Ducs there is something just as you say..you just have to ride it to understand !

Thanks. The price difference isn't as bad as it used to be as well. The insurance on a duc is less than a comparable big 4 sport bike because they have a bunch of 17 and 18 year olds running around on them.

A 916 was about 3 or 4 times more than a comparable i4 bike of its time. My 2005 999 retailed for $16000 whereas a zx-10r retailed for $11,200. A 2015 zx10rr retails for $15,300 whereas a Ducati 1299 panigale retails for $19,300. The price disparity has dropped. Worth every penny more to me.

the only problem with ducs are the horrible expanding gas tanks that eventually will leak... thats why I sold my 1198, if I had the 1198 S version it probably would still be in the stable as that tank is metal

I've never heard of this

Its not just Ducati, Triumph, Aprilia and a few more were effected by tank swell. I believe Acerbis was the manufacture of the tanks. When I had my Duc, I started to watch the tank slowly swell and touching my steering dampener more then 1/4in swell in a few months... Sold that sucker right away... If I had the S 2011 + year when they put aluminum tanks on, I would of kept it.... I believe on the ducs, whether it be a monster, 1x98, 848 07-12 have the tank issues.... Ducati solved the problem by replacing swelling tank with smaller plastic tanks, that still swell... haha

this is just a fast google search of Ducati tank swell

Real men prefer BMW's, which I just happen to have :caked:.

Guzzis are good bikes as well. Id like to get an older Eldorado, less the fish tails

That is sweet!

Hahahaha Yes those old Guzzi's are really cool bikes. I'd put a disk brake up front but leave the rest stock. Someday I'll find one, its on my bucket list.
One of my buddies has a new one, fast as hell and nimble as can be, just think about a lane change and its done. Italians know how to build bikes too.

guess its been a while since you been to a rally...OLD BOLD is all i see. Rode hard and put up wet kinda old and Bold

I rode wet and was put up hard...

I Don't go to rallys, to many idjits and weekend warriors...
I do go to Daytona twice a year, Bikeweek and Biketoberfest, but I stay away from Main St... just go down with some other 'enthusiasts' and stay with a friend in Ormund Beach. Been through Sturgis many times, always AFTER the crazies... same with Lyconia...
