Loved that show and knew it was based on a real squadron but don't think I had ever seen the real "Pappy", thanks for posting.

I could be mistaken but member C Rex father flew a F4 in WW2.

Great fighter pilot and my childhood hero. Too bad his post war life was a alcohol induced tragedy. His VMF-214 squadron mates were furious that he allowed them to be portrayed as a bunch of renegade misfits in the TV series and never forgave him for it. Their real story is far more interesting.

F4 came in during the early 60's...

F4 came in during the early 60's...

I think he was referring to the F-4U Corsair not the F-4 Phantom ll. Not to be confused with the F4F Wildcat.
