Ham from the hog I killed the other week going on the grill

Don't get me wrong, the BGE is a fantastic cooker, but for long slow cooking items, I've gotten to where I just use it to smoke for a couple of hours, and then I generally move it to a crock pot. I had a good system for cooking a fantastic butt on the BGE, but one time I needed to be away from the house for most of the day so I just smoked the BB and moved it to the crock pot. There was no comparison - the smoke/crock pot combo blew it away. Much juicer, and it retained the meat flavor/taste better so you weren't overwhelmed by the smoky flavor. I've been cooking them that way every since.


That is the reason I have a Master built also...From the BGE to the master built. 4hrs of heavy smoke, spritz with apple juice, wrap in tin foil and into the master built for 8 hrs..Just set the timer, and the temp and walk away...
