Anyone with any experience in freshwater shrimp farming? The house we're closing on has a nice koi pond with a rock waterfall in the backyard. I'm not really into raising pretty useless fish, so I was thinking practical. I love prawns, shrimp, crawfish, lobster and crab seafood, and have started reading up on the simplicity and ease of shrimp farming. Was hoping to find someone with experience to share any tips, thoughts, ideas.

Good idea DD. I ran across that as well in my research. Definitely a consideration. I'm partial to giant prawns or crawfish over tilapia for flavor. But definitely something we're considering. Thanks!

I am curious as to the economics of it. I haven't looked into it but I've read some things about farm raised salmon. Something about the cost of feed to produce a pound of protein. I'm sure it would be an interesting hobby but maybe cheaper to pick it up at Kroger's? What have you learned about the cost/protein ratio? Let us know!
