So, recently I've been starting to shoot air rifles more and more. And, I've been looking for decent pellets that are available locally. If I run out, I want the same pellets on the fly. I came across these at Walmart.
They were $9 for 150! Holy cow! The Crosman Premiers 7.9gr are $7 for 500, and they're pretty spot on accurate. Like a dime at 25 yards accurate. But, I thought I'd bite and see if they were worth it. It was to dark to see if they were accurate, I'd imagine they are, so, I did some ballistics test. Using a forensics grade ballistic medium, I put them against my favorite pellet. The Crosman Premiere Lites.
I shot them from about 3 feet. I used my precision sniper platform.
A couple mils off, I hadn't compensated for the coriolis effect. Nevertheless, the results were impressive.

As you can see, the RF would have made a significantly larger channel had it penetrated all the way. Still, it dumped all of its energy into the soap.
So, if your looking for a decent hunting pellet, the Gamo RedFire is a exellent choice. I'll test out their accuracy tomorrow. I suspect they will on with match grade ammo. Let me know what your favorite airgun ammo is!
