I bought some fiocchi self defense ammo 45 acp a while back. After a while I got to looking at them (still havent shot any) I noticed they had small primers in them. I know when I reload, that 45 acp will typically have a large primer. Is there a reason for the small primer and does have any major affects on the ammo?

Not that I have seen. Federal's line of champion ammo has the same thing. Small primers in the 45. Why? My guess is to save costs. The federal champion ammo shoots just fine. Only thing is my buddy who I give my brass to does not want the cases fitted with small primers lol

I read a little bit into the Federal small primer .45's and found that they are used in "clean range" ammo apparently. Stuff that uses an encapsulated base projectile and clean primers, maybe to differentiate them from standard .45. Might not be the case with the Fiocchi stuff, but I agree it is annoying nonetheless.
