That ones not a new disease it’s an old one that’s come back.When I was a kid they said rabbits were carriers here in the Midwest, so it wasn’t safe to eat them before the first snow and even after you had to be careful not to cut or scratch yourself with their broken bones when cleaning them. Probably an old wives tail, because it doesn’t really seem legit these days. They said it was always fatal if you caught it back then as well. This came from my grandfather and dad during a time when rabbit and squirrel were a required fare at the dinner table.
