Deer shot placement for beginners

When my boys first started hunting, we would watch deer hunting shows and say "shoot" or "no shoot" based on how the deer was positioned. I have shown them numerous charts on shot placement and we hardly ever track a deer. The chart below is pretty good at showing how you want the bullet to hit center from different angles (explain elevated stands too- not on this chart)- hope this helps someone. Good luck.

In the early years, I wouldn't let them try the A's & D's as I felt they were too inexperienced for steep angles like that. They learn quick with practice though (we shoot at least every 2-3 weeks year round).
 
At the distances I can see deer on my hunting land...I can usually wait it out for a TBS shot. When I am handgun hunting...I definitely wait for the TBS due to the lesser penetration of a handgun round. But good information nonetheless.
 
Taught mine the same point of aim.Have a bud who likes the high shoulder shot to break em down right there.Very good info.
