Most aircraft doors are ‘plug type’. Meaning you would have to overcome the aircraft pressurization to open the door. It sounds like he cracked it momentarily. I don’t think most humans are strong enough to successfully open a aircraft plug style door when the aircraft is pressurized. They pull in before going outboard.

The latest Boeing over-wing exits swing out and up. I don’t know if those are
Plug style. I would be surprised if they weren’t. But hey they never even installed some critical bolts on emergency exits on the 737 max
