So I read their website...

Need proof of Citizenship. Check. Passport.
Need proof of age. Check . DL
Need to join a club of some sort. Any recommendations locally to metro Atlanta? ...I am in Marietta.
Proof of marksmanship? Can I use my CMP range results from yesterday via photograph?

What is the difference in a field grade and service grade M1 besides the $100 markup?

I am considering ORDERING one...I shot one yesterday and its the Cadillac of Rifles. Period.

Field grades usually have slightly higher wear numbers from a low of 1+ME up to 3+ and TE from a low of 2 up to 4.
Stocks will be USGI normally nothing special just solid wood
Finish may have some cosmetic blemishes or very slight pitting.

Service Grades will normally have ME 1+ to 2+ and TE 2-3.
May come in new CMP stocks because their original stocks were damaged or sport a nice cartouche.
Finish is usually nice.

Field Grades are good if you can hand select in the store but they are not always in stock because they are filling mail orders.

There are seldom Service Grades in the store.

For proof of marksmanship there is a form you can download and have a range officer certify.

Joining the Garand Collector Association for $25 a year fulfills the affiliated organization too.

Hope that helps.
