It's a sin to waste food like that, I'm glad it was only wings and not something expensive.
The ribs that cooked before the chicken charring were a huge hit though, everyone said they were the best they'd ever eaten.

They were just trying to soothe your feelings after the wings fiasco.
I did that to some steaks one time. Set them sh*ts on low, but some grease from chicken past flared up while I wasn’t paying attention. Charred the hell out of the steak. I tried to save it, but they were so thick the center 1/4 was rare while the outside 3/4 was already jerky. Needless to say, we ate hotdogs instead lol
