Having a problem with my dads setup we have a built cobra 29 bigger finals connex board and built in talkback. We are currently running a 250 galaxy linear. We need help, we power it all up and key up the mix and it begins to squeal like a pig. Anybody know what could be causing this.

If the radio has been peaked and tuned it maybe putting out to much power on key up. it needs to dead key around 3 to five watts and swing up not to over power the amp. IF your using an external speaker it's to close to the mic or radio. if using an external speaker coil up the speaker wire in a circle around your finger to take up all the slack and wire tie it. this will create a choke and kill the RF from the radio.
did you set the SWR's before playing as to get the most out of it and not burn it up?

Swr's are good and dead keying around 2 watts. My dad thinks it could be the built in talkback causing it to squeal.

Bypass the TalkBack board and see if that fixes your Feedback problem... assuming that you have tested both with the liner amplifier on and off before posting your question.
We're bringing it to ladd's electronics in Jackson next week it's a possibility atleast hopefully just a talkback problem. Pray it's not the connex those things ain't cheap

hello, problem is talkback or too much mic gain if power mic. try stock mic. if dont help, disable talkback. believe this will cure it. railroad man thinks so
