Bitcoin over 24k, good to see its still going...

The question I ask is why is it up? Why did it ever go down? What is the basis for its value? What factors cause it to go. up or down? Since it isn't a "traditional " investment it all seems to be based on popularity to me. I mean there isn't any revenue, profits, dividends, interest etc so why is it worth anything? Unlike precious medals that have intrinsic value why does bitcoin or ETH have any value? If some actor or personality tweets something it goes up or down which to me since a good basis for value. I am staying away though I dont doubt it may continue to go up, but just like the NFTs and other similar things they all end up at zero in the end because they have no real value.
