Another vote for a Subaru here. I had an 05 WRX STI that spent many days in the North Georgia mountains. It put 338hp and 413tq to the ground on stock turbo. The awd systems on these cars are amazing.

I don't know what it is about a Boxster but it just doesn't quite do it. I'd rather an older 911 before a Boxster.

Yeah, they are supposed to be great drivers, but can't get past the looks. Like the Cayman though.

A Porsche 928 would be a nice family car that's aggressive. I have seen some nicely cared for models in your price range.

A Subaru would be nice but not in your price range unless it's been beaten.
