I'm mainly wanting to start reloading 4 calibers;

2 pistol, 9mm and 45acp

2 rifle. 5.56 and 7.62 (.223 and .308)

Question: What are about 2 time tested and proven powders for reloading these four calibers (Would like at least 2 suggestions for each caliber)?

Pistol: W231
Rifle: W748 or Varget

Check around, I have been able to pick up 231 and 748 but Varget is no where to be found.

Pistols, the most versatile for me is Universal. HP38/W231 works well too, but I really like Universal for it's load density and velocity range.

The two rifle calibers are well served by many of the same powders. I like Varget and Reloader 15 for precision loadings. Many love the 4895's for the .308, but it's an extruded powder that requires a bit more attention in the .223 than many are willing to fool with.

H335, W748, CFE 223, are the better metering powders that work well for higher volume loading.
