To be honest, sounds like your car has had water/floor damage before. It could be something else, but water/corrosion makes all kind of things go funky...
I'm heading over to my friends house tomorrow and he is a mechanic and I'll pull this thread up and let him give you an honest over the internet diagnosis! He is dang good and has worked on cars for many years!
Alternator?

Electrical gremlins are the worst, that is one area I don't have a clue what to chase down.
Yep, I pay somebody to chase those down cause I will F up more trying to do it myself!

I thinking that's a pretty good guess.
Since nobody has said it, I'm gonna' say.... rodents.
Doesn't sound like it's confined to the headlight(s).
