And it Was Just like that... No worries about anyone falling...

A typical Day Back when I was a Kid:

Just because they were kids, they didn't have the right to go into the cab... Had to hop-in the bed of the truck, if they wanna a ride.
"Uncle Bob would take the passenger seat in the cab, while Grandpa was the drive."
"Aunt Olivia was seating in the middle..."

My old man would do a kid headcount by stomping on the brakes and counting the thumps..

Seat belts weren't required in cars I thought till 1964, but I looked it up and they said 1968
First safety regulations iirc went into effect for 1967 models.
Padded dash, padded horn buttons, seatbelts.
Think 1968 added front side marker lights and headrests.
Rear had side marker reflectors at first then changed to lights.

I rode many a mile reading books on top of the luggage in the back of the station wagon when going on vacation. Still here but there were less a****les on the road then.

Yep, I had a ‘65 Mustang restomod that my wife refused to ride in because it didn’t have seatbelts. I had seatbelts installed and she still wouldn’t ride in it. lol! I gotta admit though, that car was scary as hell.
