Bottom line is he is totally ignorant of firearms and firearm safety. He killed a person out of neglect and is trying to worm out of it.

With the heavy double action of wheel guns, an ND is less likely but it could have been a "hair trigger" or a worn out hammer spring, or any number of things. And there's no telling what sort of modifications the owner made that could cause an ND. The crew cited the same firearm had 2 previous NDs.

If there is a recording it will never be seen.
They were doing a walk-thru so the actors can get in character and the Directors can check the camera angles. Typically the cameras aren't recording during that to save memory space. If there is footage, it'll be held as evidence and would be on the company and/ or a Judge to determine if it should be released.
