A buddy of mine has an SAI M1A that was tuned up by Hook Boutin. We used to run it to 1450yds with iron sights. Not sure if I can do that anymore.

I wish I still had my 35yr old or younger eyes , no doubt. I think welding gottem?

I struggled at the CMP shooting irons at 300 with a M1 Garand.

Hard to find Scenar loadings in general.

I've had great results with the 175 grain Lapua Scenar-L in my M1a. Very accurate and consistent out to at least 1000 yards. That's the furthest I've shot it. The factory loaded Creedmoor Sports ammo has worked well and I've managed to reproduce it in a hand load. I was going to post a link, but it looks like Creedmoor Sports has stopped loading their line of ammo.

Iron sights are my first love. Never been. Imma catch alleycat going sometime when he wants some company. Maybe next time we do an ODT trip? Is there any requirements beyond a carry permit?

I plan on going to Cool Acres in Swainsboro for the 1,200 yard range later this year.... I'll check the calendar and see what weekend looks good. Would like to go multiple times this year. 600 yards at CMP.
