22 ARC / 22 Grendel

Sounds like time for ocw and seating depth changes. Pay attn to pressure signs. No pressure signs, you can go hotter. The case and gun will tell you max load.

I should probably get our computer working and get Gordon’s reloading tool. I was 5grns over hornadys max load for n133 without and pressure signs.

I’m wondering if it was a typo or something. Most of the powders are a few grains higher than in the 22ppc….except n133.

Got the ammo today, i should have some chrono data later this week. I’ll pull one round to see how long the actual bullet is. Left is a 75eldm and right is a factory 62eldvt

Took a round apart to see how long the bullet was and powder charge. Bullet was 1.050”, powder was 30.6grns and COL was 2.250”.

I shot a whole box and I’m assuming it was a 1” group…..the paper was wet and a 1” hole was the only thing there. Looks like you’ll lose 25-30fps per inch on barrel length.

I put 2 milk jugs in a row and shot one at 120yrds. A few pieces stopped in the second jug and the core was ~4’ behind them on the berm

I’m probably going to sell my 6.5g barrel and get a shorter 22arc barrel. I think the 75-88grn bullets will be plenty for deer around here.

My 22” is pretty long with a can on but it sounds like I’m shooting a 22mag. Hopefully I’ll get to try it on coyotes soon….

Shot another jug @120yrds today but this time I put denim over it. Most of the bullet was fragmented and in the second jug. The core went through like the previous time.

I also shot 2 rounds at my 6” plate @212yrds. Same hold as my 100yrd zero put them both in the center of the plate.

I’ve been using 6.5 Grendel brass, this is the first bit of factory 22arc.

Take the 6.5 Grendel brass, lube it and run it through the 22arc die. No trimming or anything.

6arc brass might work but I think it’s a couple thou short.
