2008 Jeep JK 6 speed manual:

Rattle; seems to be coming from clutch or tranny, only under load. Hear it in all gears until road noise washes it out. Checked Jeep forums and they all claim exhaust or heat shield, both of which I have checked out. I had the clutch replaced by Chrysler about 30k miles ago. Jeep has 110k on it now. It seems to be getting worse as it only used to do it when the jeep was warm and pushing 2000-2500 RPM. Now it does it from 1500 RPM and is more audible.

Any suggestions before I take it to the dealership?

Thanks!

Not heat shield... I mentioned that in the original description. Was your rattle noticeable when in both neutral and drive?
yes i noticed you said that in your description, but my point
was that the heat shield on my vehicle appeared fine(didnt
have any noticeable play or looseness.)

it did rattle a little when in neutral or idling but it became
pronounced under load.

i had a toyota do the same thing except it was the exhaust
manifold heat sheild and it made a racket all the time.

a broken exhaust mount can do the same thing can check into
that.

The rattle on my wife's Cherokee was inside the catalytic converter; replaced converter, no more rattle.

This. My Xterra had the same symptom your Jeep has and it ended up being the cat converter. It broke inside creating a very annoying rattle.
