2 Spanish riders killed in California motorcycle race

Prayers sent!

I cringe every time I see a m/c crash. Difference between life and death mere split seconds difference.

Terrible. And such bad luck, too. So random. Other people involved just got bumps and bruises. Gold helmet / white suit guy lands sitting up and looks fully alert and in control of himself. Other people go flipping around and spinning like lug nuts in a blender.

They all came to a stop in a shorter distance than I expected. Doesn't it look like they and their bikes slid and bounced along the ground for no more than 50 yards?
How fast to they normally go on that part of the track on the first lap? 170 mph?

Race starts were always the part I hated the most. Everyone is all crammed together and jostling for position into the first turn.

RIP.

Lost my soon to be BIL on Charlotte Speedway back in 83', and unforgiving sport. Ambulance pulled out on the track and he broadsided it.

Fast and loose sport.
