  1. S&W Mod 29 front sight

thanks. It's actually a Model 69, but pinned in the traditional way as far as I can tell.
  2. S&W Mod 29 front sight

I have come into a new ( to me) Model 29. It is a modern version, feels sort of cheap, but it is what it is. :violin: It has the standard ramp front sight with red insert, pinned into the base, I would like to replace it with something similar to the Hi Viz. I have no idea if I have a "DX...
  3. My Grandfathers old S&W

BTW, if you want to really play it safe, run down some .32 S&W short. It's like 600 fps. In good light, you can see the bullet.
  4. S&w triplelock/ new century 44 special in ruff condition

DO NOT get it re-nickeled 1. The cost will not be justified by the increase in value. Just the prep work will cost $$$$. 2. Any collector wants the original finish. If it needs to be re-nickeled, let them do it. Is there a "N" to the left of the numbers in this picture? I am...
  5. My Grandfathers old S&W

Any modern 80 grain round nose load will be safe to shoot. It will be loaded to black powder specs, no worry about being over proofed. I have a couple of those, and shoot them all the time. Biggest problem is that storebought ammo has got really spendy. P.S. Just scored some Fiocchi...
  6. Cutting and threading for chokes

Briley will be on site at the Seminole Cup in Woodbine this weekend. There will also be several other shotgun vendors there - great opportunity to try out different guns.

  9. M1903 Barrel install?

You might call Shooters Den in Watkinsville. Limited hours, limited services, but worth a call. Used to be a gunsmith in Bishop, but haven't seen any posting in a long while.
  10. Advice or help: 870 wingmaster magazine cap

Clean the rust off, any good hard wax to protect it.
  11. Advice or help: 870 wingmaster magazine cap

Actually, it falls into the category of "patina" It's a sign of it's age, and is appropriate. I'd clean it up and leave it alone.
  12. Advice or help: 870 wingmaster magazine cap

It's called "plumming" Dan Wesson revolvers are famous for doing it. It's a chemical interaction between the metal and blueing. The steel in the nut is different from that in the receiver/barrel.
  13. Advice or help: 870 wingmaster magazine cap

Take the wood off, put it in the freezer, take it out, soak it with Kroil, lock it down, and twist off. I would put it in a vise with proper protection for the action and barrel, get some leather for padding, put a pair of vice grips on it, and use a persuader to loosen it up. I have...
  14. Old School Hideout Conversion

I have a S&W with a bobbed hammer, and dry fire only, in my bedroom, I try to mess with it SA, and it ain't happening in real life. One of those theoretical things that fill up Gun magazines I mean, it;s way cool, but exactly what scenario are you going to need SA aimed fire from a 1 3/8" barrel?
  15. Best material for cosmetic metal edge repair

Can't you peen it out that much?
  16. Smith older model

The true I frame had a cylinder window of 1 1/2 inches. My aging eyes says that window is more than 1 1/2 " . Or it's a 2 year old holding it, a 2 year old with real hairy arms. It could be a HE, 2nd Model, but should use the same spring as a K frame. Would like to see the butt, to see if...
  17. Smith older model

    it's not an I frame
  18. Smith older model

It probably a K frame, but K,L,N. all use the same spring. It's one of those, the others are irrelevant.
