  1. Help with SBR AR functioning

What is the gas block set up and how does it mount?
  2. Found a rifle at the dump!

That's a heck of a nice gun to find, even if a bit rusty.
  3. Threaded my first barrel

IMO, the muzzle device looks like it indexes off of the shoulder. You should clean that shoulder and cut it to 90 degrees with a relief to the minor thread dimension from the last rear thread to the shoulder. The cut at the shoulder should be filleted to avoid a stress point.
  4. anybody close by got a lathe?

More out of curiosity than help, but does the brake index off of the muzzle? I dont see a shoulder for the muzzle device the touch so it seems like it wont stop threading on until it runs out of threads or hits the muzzle, so you could time it by taking a 1/2 thou off of the muzzle tol its timed.
  5. NEW 590a1 Surface Rust Issues? Need help :D

I'll take it off your hands for anrust discount. I cant find one on stock anywhere that doesn't want a grand for it.
  6. Need a front sight installed on my USP slide

The USP has a reputation for being Tough to install sight on. Normally I would just drift a sight in place but dont want to risk it on my USP. Anyone have a suggestion for an Smith to do the install for me? My main concern is slide marks.
  7. Help with Stainless Barrel

The best way to polish it is bewteen centers on a lathe, but you won't get the hammer foged look back. Any issues with just cutting that section off or having it threaded in that area? (I mean aside from cost?)
  8. Problem with AR15 build

Another curious thing I'd check is that he has the disconnector spring under the disconnector and not the bolt latch spring. They are similar in size and can be swapped, but one works and the other doesn't. I did this myself once and the gun worked...too good... but it's possible that it could...
  9. Problem with AR15 build

How is he installing the hammer? push the pin out, with the hammer face facing right, rotate the spring clockwise until the U hits the rear of the hammer, put it in the lower with both arms pointing rearward and slide it forward into position with the receiver holes and hold in place while you...
  10. Rear Trunnion on Draco AK

Ugh. I wish there'd be a similar YugoM92 with a welded sidefolder. Well, I forward to seeing your Draco when finished!
  11. Rear Trunnion on Draco AK

Sell and buy the PM90? (when back in stock) https://www.atlanticfirearms.com/component/virtuemart/shipping-pistols/ak47-pistol-commando-4033-detail.html?Itemid=0
  12. AK underfolder Straighting the stock???

The angle of the stock is going to depend on at least the hole positions in the receiver, and secondly, the pin hole positions in the stock arms. That's a milled stock, so I doubt it came on the rifle originally. Is the rifle a WASR, or a home build? I don't see mag dimples, so wonder it's...
  13. Don't drink and gunsmith......

If you're painting the lower anyway, you could drill through the lower so you can tap the roll pin out, then plug the hole with some jb weld and file smooth before painting. Noone would ever know butt you (and this thread). IF it were me, I'd be tempted to find a steel pin that will fit in the...
  14. Don't drink and gunsmith......

Problem is, you messed it up drunk, and you're trying to fix it sober. You're gonna have to tie a new one on to get back in the right mindset. Heat it up red hot with a torch, pound your thumb with a hammer, then chunk the lower across the yard. when you go pick it up, it'll be fixed. If not...
  15. Broke another scope (x2)

There are better, low prices scopes available close to the price range. A used Leupold or Nikon will outperform the Weaver, in most cases with a smaller objective lense. A lower end Vortex would be an option. I would get the replacement and sell it and throw an extra hundred in towards a...
  16. Anyone else been burned by "Hogleg Smith"?

cockeyed? halfcocked? ETA- those work, so maybe you need to cocketate your hammer or cockize it or apply some cockization. Apparently ebonics is not filtered.
  17. Anyone else been burned by "Hogleg Smith"?

I meant dry firing/hand cycling the slide vs. when he test fired it after the work. I was wondering if it was limp-wristing or a dry slide causing a short stroke.
  18. Anyone else been burned by "Hogleg Smith"?

He has done a little work for me. He did a nice job installing a beavertail and trigger sear in a 1911. I showed a friend who took his to have the same work done and Hogleg botched his. He ended up taking it elsewhere and having it done right. When it comes to Single action pistols and cowboy...
  19. Need some advice

First, for the freckling, I did this on an ithaca 37 and it worked great. Put some gun oil on a tissue or cloth and let the oiled patch sit on the freckles for 10-15 minutes. Then after its soaked, take an old penny (70s-80s-Mostly copper) and lightly scrub the freckles. Repeat a few times and it...
  20. Gun cleaning and restoration experts please take a look

One trick I tried on my Ithaca 37 rust spots is to coat the spots in oil and let it sit a while (10-15 minutes to a couple days :) ). take an older penny like at least from the 70's (copper is the thing) and rub the edge on the spots one at a time. Wipe it down and see what's left. I'd test it...
