  1. Fraudulent activity on debit card

Scratch the security number off the card... it's not embossed. You only need that for online shopping, and you can keep it written down at home.
  2. Fraudulent activity on debit card

You don't need to go that far. Most credit card theft (in person) would stop if merchants required the PIN to go with the chip card, like in the rest of the world. For some reason, merchants here choose not to require the PIN. It's on a per-merchant basis too-- any merchant could choose to...
  3. Fraudulent activity on debit card

You can disable the RFID and NFC functions with a strategic hole punched through the card. Instructions can be found on the internet. Card will still work for swipe and chip.
  4. Fraudulent activity on debit card

If you're forced (like most everyone) to have a debit card with some Visa/MC payment option on it, as you say-- no fraud protection. Call the bank and get the credit limit set to zero. You'll have to do this every time you get a new card (since they expire, thank you George Bush!), but it does...
  5. Hisense Dehumidifier- Look at what their Customer Service told me to do!

That one looks pretty good. These commercial ones are big and heavy and noisy, but maybe they'll last. And if the timer works the way I want, so I can run it only during the night when folks are not in the basement, that would be fantastic.
  6. Liberty gives access to their safes but there are no back door master codes

Trivial. Get it shipped to a friend if you want to truly obfuscate things, then remove the sticker.
  7. Liberty gives access to their safes but there are no back door master codes

Guys, THIS IS IN THE MANUAL. Not news; not a security risk. Remove the S/N sticker from the inside of the keypad and put it elsewhere if this bothers you. Then the feds will cut the safe open. Feel better? You lost the safe, and the feds still got in. This is true of all electronic locks...
  8. Favorite big box stores, present and past

Service Merchandise Lechmere (sp?) Treasury-- there was one by 285 right by the airport Sports Authority was pretty good MediaPlay BestBuy when they still sold music and movies Heck, Circuit City and now Bed, Bath, Beyond. K-Mart was in the larger towns where Wal-Mart was not (up until the 90s...
  9. Hisense Dehumidifier- Look at what their Customer Service told me to do!

I saw the other day where the Chinese maker of GE and a bunch of other big box/Amazon brands of dehumidifiers was fined for not recalling them after they started fires. I think they're sending out recall notices now... on dehumidifiers they quit selling in 2016. I think everyone on this...
  10. Inground yellow jacket nest .

Well, ah, not to ruin the fun, but any of the synthetic pyrethroid dusts puffed in the entrance will do the trick in a few days. Safely. No fallout like nuking from orbit. Less fun though. Also works on bees chewing holes in your fascia boards. And in wall voids. Etc. Really useful stuff...
  11. Hisense Dehumidifier- Look at what their Customer Service told me to do!

I'm going to remember this, too-- I'm so sick of replacing these darned things. I've learned to buy the three year warrantee though, and tape it on the machine so I don't misplace it. That way you at least get four years from a single purchase (two and two).
  12. I must be in the wrong business if UPS drivers are getting paid

You ought to see what they make at Buc-ee's... I should have learned how to run a convenience store rather than engineering! (I'm assuming some of y'all have encountered Buc-ee's even though they're new to Georgia.) Assistant general manager $100k - $150k+ Car wash manager...
  13. I didn't really want to shoot on my backyard range during my lunch break anyway

They already have. Most by mid-May. Those deer are either young boys, or does who for some reason don't have a fawn... lost it or hit by a car in one case (right in front of my wife and I). The ones with fawns are off with them, not staying in a group. The neighborhood deer are basically...
  14. I didn't really want to shoot on my backyard range during my lunch break anyway

Actually, I really did want to shoot my air rifle some during my lunch break, before it gets so dang hot. Lazy bums.
  15. neighbors drive on my land

There are very good reasons to defend and protect your property lines, whether you need that land today or not. Zoning changes, and down the road, that 3' of setback some owner loses, and can no longer build an extension/pool/garage/whatever may significantly devalue your property. You paid...
  16. Has anyone on here been successful investing in real estate? What program or who's program did you follow or did you go at it on your own?

I agree. I know of one guy who actually did a zero-money out of pocket deal, but that's far from the norm. (Though there are more experienced folks with contacts that allow them to regularly do it.) I never even came close. I'm going to say this too, for anybody reading. If you think this...
  17. Has anyone on here been successful investing in real estate? What program or who's program did you follow or did you go at it on your own?

John Adams got me started. The $1000 boot camp; not the $60 teaser class. Worth every penny-- because unlike all the books and TV courses, he provided Georgia-legal contracts and Georgia-specific info and contacts (lawyers, hard money contacts, mortgage brokers, and on and on and on that...
  18. Warm up your house hacks...

Slightly off topic, but wouldn't it be nice to have a couple of hundred watts of heat that followed you around the house, so you could turn down the thermostat overall, and only heat the rooms people are in, and when they're actually in them? Naw.
