I will agree on the "thump on both ends" statement on the 444. I have killed deer with every one of my Marlins except the 444. I am not sure my old bones that handle that impact anymore.
My youngest son has one of the non JM Marlins. Fit and finish is definitely not up to JM models. Although it has operated ok, the entire front sight just fell off withing a year or so of purchase. I guess not such a big deal since it is scoped.
I like what I have read on the side gate...
I have several Marlin lever guns in 30-30, 35 Remington and 444 Marlin. I hunt with most of them, but for some time now have been thinking about moving to Henry.
Just thought before I start listing Marlins for sale, I would check with Henry owners to hear the pros and cons of the Henry lever...
Did it have a hammer extension? I have a 75 Marlin 336 that operated fine until I installed a hammer extension. The slot in the bottom of the bolt is hanging on the newly installed hammer extension. If I put the smallest amount of pressure on the hammer when the bolt is "locked" on the...

I saw an article somewhere (I will look for it) reference mostly the 308w / 7.62x51 pressure issues, where they tested the Remington managed recoil corelokt ammo... Their tests showed the Rem ammo was safe for older 2 lug mausers converted to 7.62 nato.. In that light, the Rem corelokt...
