Things have changed a lot at the Thrift stores in general. Used to be able to hit them during lunch and find some pretty good plunder - pewter, exotic hardwood, old tools, and the occasional good quality kitchen knives that had been a little abused. Now they seem to be picked clean of anything...
Bring your project up to the Trackrock Hammer-in next weekend. There will be several accomplished custom makers in attendance and someone might be able to help you out. See other post here for location/time info.
I personally prefer not to do rebuilds/mods on factory knives or other maker's...
Just overall profile and handle shape lean more towards Middle Eastern Jordanian maybe. I've seen similar designs/Markings on blades from that area as well. But, I'm no expert just seen quite a few ME blades.

Open to anyone interested in knives, knifemaking...

Purple heart and zebra wood with a pewter bolster, little file work on spine and an etched Poinsettia bloom on the blade.

Go to the Georgia Custom Knifemakers' guild web site. There's a listing of members and locations, most having contact information attached. Lot of makers in middle GA. Watchaneed?
