  1. Ford Maverick Pickup

    Real pickups have 2 doors.
  2. New lil red Express truck project

I would imagine there are specialty websites selling parts for these things. There are sites for everything else.
  3. New lil red Express truck project

I sold them new. They were, indeed, the fastest thing off the showroom floor in 78. Not the enthusiasm back in the day for them as there is today.
  4. Smoke generator for evap test

There is a youtube that has a cigar stuck into an air mattress pump, it appears to work great.
  5. Smoke generator for evap test

I may just go the paint can and incense route with an air hose running through my paint sprayer regulator. I wanted something that was plug and play. Oh well
  6. Smoke generator for evap test

    Haven't tried that yet.
  7. Smoke generator for evap test

Is it worth buying an evap tester for about 200 bucks or do the home made units do the job? I have at least 2 possibly more vehicles that need attention.
  8. I had to pull the instrument cluster from my Honda.

I pulled the dash board to get the instrument cluster out. After 20 years, some bulbs had burned out.
  9. I had to pull the instrument cluster from my Honda.

You start by removing the screws in the BACK seat area from the center console. It just gets worse from there. After removing a cup full of screws, you remove the fascia from the dash, then you can get to the instrument cluster. Even after unplugging all the harnesses, it is still a major...
  10. steering box leak

There is a small shop up near the airport that does steering boxes. I took him a real oddball off a tractor and he had it back to me in 3 or 4 days. I can't remember the name, got his info from a web search. No problems since with the steering box.
  11. HELP!! I need a mobile tractor mechanic!!

Alternator can do this. Depending on where it stops at shutdown, it may or may not have any issues when off. I had one it took a week to diagnose. The only way I caught it (customer assured me it was not the alternator) was I laid my hand on it after it had been shut down for 8 hours. The...
  12. I have so much fun messing with the young kids kids nowadays.

Went to use my Sun timing light the other day, and it had failed. Bought a new one and back in business. The Sun was from 1966.
  13. I have so much fun messing with the young kids kids nowadays.

May as well hook up a tach&dwell, a timing light, and a vacuum gauge. Those are what we really used, and are just as alien to the young guys.
  14. which rolling tool chest to get?

Tool boxes are never big enough. I could easily use 2 more 52" boxes, and still have stuff looking for a home, and I no longer work out of my boxes.
  15. which rolling tool chest to get?

Harbor Freight US General has gotten very good reviews. I have several Craftsmen boxes, and they are rather light duty, though they have lasted more than 35 years, many of which were on the hangar floor.
  16. Recommend Auto A/C work south of the ATL airport or Atlanta area?

Mike Sams has done some AC work for me. He was fine, but it has been some time ago. He is in Fayetteville.
  17. “Custom” Cars...

Nothing like having to chase down odd ball parts.
  18. Unexpected helper

I use an ax handle, but same idea.
  19. Spark plugs center electrode insulator broke.

Plug damaged before install. Looks like the insulator around the electrode was cracked. Could be in shipping or any time. If a plug is dropped, replace it. You do not know how it was handled before you got it.
  20. E3 spark plugs

They may be somewhat better only because they delay the wear somewhat due to the ground electrode design. I very much doubt you will see any difference in performance. Fine wire plugs supposedly offer the same advantages compared to standard plugs, at a cost differential of up to 10 times. I...
