Smoke generator for evap test

Is it worth buying an evap tester for about 200 bucks or do the home made units do the job?

I have at least 2 possibly more vehicles that need attention.

I may just go the paint can and incense route with an air hose running through my paint sprayer regulator.

I wanted something that was plug and play. Oh well

There is a youtube that has a cigar stuck into an air mattress pump, it appears to work great.
