  1. What tools do I need?

I've been reloading. 45acp, 45lc, and 460 for a couple of years now and probably loaded a few thousand all together. However, I have never messed with any rifle calibers and would like to start loading .308 Win. I'm only using a single stage press and I've not really needed anything other than...
  2. Safety.

Just a reminder to be careful and always pay attention to what you're doing when reloading. Only takes a second to get distracted or complacent and make a mistake that could hurt you and/or your gun. I was reminded of this when I accidently double charged a case with powder last night...
  3. Favorite Online Source

Xtreme Bullets has decent prices for plated bullets. Recob's Target Shop usually has the powders and primers I'm looking for in stock for decent prices.
  4. 45 acp loads with Bullseye

I usually load Bullseye around 4.5 gr for general use in all my .45's. 4.0-4.1 works well in a couple of my guns, but others have heavier springs and don't reliably eject Bullseye loads under 4.5.
  5. Shout out to X-Treme Bullets

Do they not send emails saying your order has shipped or are they just really slow on shipping? I placed an order at the same time I ordered powder and primers from somewhere else. My powder and primers will be here tomorrow, but as far as I know, my bullets havent even shipped yet.
  6. Well I did it

If you use corncob or walnut tumbling media, add a few used dryer sheets to keep the media cleaner longer.
  7. Reloading Bench Plans

The basic 2x4 kit from Northern Tool is $70 and depending on the size you want it, you may be able to build it with just one sheet of plywood and 2 or 3 full length 2x4s. I haven't priced wood lately but that should keep you somewhere around $100, maybe less. This is what I did for my bench, but...
  8. New reloading bench

You could always try something like this. I live in an apartment and I have this setup in an "office" space, but I only have the bottom part. The legs are $60 at Northern Tool and you can buy lumber whatever size you need depending on how much space you have. If you only use the top and...
  9. Anyone have the Hornady 9th edition?

I have 9th Edition book but it doesn't mention those bullets
  10. New Cabelas

I didn't get there til almost 7:15AM and my buddy and I were 404 and 405 in line. Must not have been to many people show up between me and you.
  11. Let's See Your Benches!

  12. OAL question....

Thanks for all the replies. My first thought was up the charge slightly. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong with OAL, since I couldn't find very much info on how it affects things.
  13. OAL question....

Actually, stated 3.6 gr behind 200gr bullet. But your statement here doesn't make sense to me. Are you sure that's correct? Why would you need more powder to push a 185 than you need to push a 200?
  14. OAL question....

So I got into reloading for .45 recently, worked up some good loads I like using 230 gr round nose bullets, and everything was happy, happy, happy. Then I couldn't find any more 230 gr RN, but did find 1500 plated SWC, 1000 of which are 200gr and the other 500 are 185gr. Finally, tested my loads...
  15. Help me decide

Lee Breechlock Challenger kits are under $150 and work well. You will still need dies for each caliber you intend to reload, a good caliper, a solid bench, a couple of manuals, components, maybe a bullet puller and some way to clean your brass. If using a Lee kit, I suggest getting a good powder...
  16. Lee .45 dies

Not too hard to come by if you know where to look. TruPrep has had them in stock for a while now.
  17. Reloading 22LR

I have a reloading book that says it is possible to reload .22s, but the priming compound is not sold commercially and you would have to make it yourself. Went into it a bit more than that, but basically said it's not worth the effort.
  18. Lee 4 die pistol set

Give TruPrep in Roswell or Marietta a call. I know the one in Roswell had a couple of the four die sets in .45 acp in stock a week or so ago. Their website inventory isn't exactly up to date. I paid $42 for .45 acp 4 die set. I don't know what they have in stock currently, but it's worth a shot.
  19. Where to buy components?

Any one care to share where they buy reloading components(brass, bullets, etc.) that doesn't charge as much for components as what I can buy factory ammo for? I looked at a few places online, but from what I have found so far I'd save more money buying factory ammo. I am not trying to spend...
  20. TruPrep in Roswell

TruPrep in Roswell has .45 acp and .308 die sets in stock, as well as 2 Lee 50th Anniversary single stage reloading kits. They have decent prices, too. Just putting it out there as I know I couldn't find any of this stuff in stock anywhere online.
