I found a nice patch of yellow morels yesterday in my usual spot. It's like clockwork this time of year. Sautéed some in fresh raw milk butter last night with a little garlic.....fantastic
I cooked some 33 day aged deer chops last night. I like to keep these really simple. Season with salt, pepper, and dried rosemary. Pan seared in cast iron with butter. Couple minutes on each side and keep the butter basted on the top side. They went excellent with some smashed potatoes!!!
Dad wanted oysters for his birthday again so I shucked a couple hundred yesterday. My wife boiled a few pounds of shrimp, corn on the cob, cooked some potatoes, baked some chicken, and made tartar sauce. She baked 3 cheese, pepperjack, pimento cheese, and cheddar jalepeno oysters. They were all...
Hit one of my morel spots saturday and struck gold!!! Found a pile of massive yellow morels. Only setback was that I had to negotiate with the big copperhead that was guarding the bounty, but he was peaceable.
Sautéed them on the flat top along side scallops and marinated shrimp. Toasted some...
Picked a mess of chanterelles and oysters yesterday morning while out checking cams. Grilled some medium rare ribeyes last night while my wife baked potatoes, sautéed asparagus, and the shrooms. What a fantastic meal.
My wife tried her hand at tomato pie yesterday and good lord it was good. Pie crust full of cheesy tomato goodness. Posting the recipe here for you guys if anyone is interested.
Found some chanterelles and oysters while I was scouting this morning. Brought them straight home and fried some up for lunch. Boy were they delicious!
Found a few rainbows yesterday and fried them up with the bream I caught Friday. Mighty fine with broccoli and some homeade tartar sauce. Fish mix is 1/3 parts cornmeal to 2/3 part all purpose flour. Seasoned with garlic powder, onion powder, kosher salt, chili powder, smoked paprika, cayenne...
Hello all, looking for a little guidance on a jeep. I have a 1998 Grand Cherokee 4.0 that has developed a really bad habit of cutting off on me. It will idle and run smooth as silk but when its been driving for about 15 minutes or so it will just cut off. It sounds terrible when it cuts off...
Fried up about a 30lb mix of catfish and spot bass for our church supper Sunday night. Also throwed some gar nuggets, chanterelles, and hushpuppies in the grease. All kinds of good eats. I have grown really fond of using 1/3 all purpose flour to 2/3 cornmeal for frying fish. It makes for a good...
Shucked a bushel Saturday for lunch and boy they were good. We had raw, 3 cheese baked, jalepeno baked, fried 2 pints worth, homeade crabcakes, coleslaw, diced potatoes, keyline pie, and brownies. It was some kind of good!
Plenty to go around today. Fried catfish, fried frog legs, potato salad, coleslaw, cheese grits, homemade tartar sauce, blackberry cobbler, apple cobbler, and much more. Time for a nap and some football now.
Fried up a couple packs mingo last night along with frog legs and hushpuppies. My wife fixed us some delicious cheese grits and homeade tartar sauce and boy did that make a good supper!

Hit up dad's crabapple tree for some goods here recently. My little girl and I got busy peeling and my wife cooked them down into her delicious apple sauce. I used the stock to make us a few quarts of cider that's gonna go down real smooth come cold weather. It's all delicious!!
