  1. Turkeyed Out

Thanks a lot. I shot him straight on and was amazed at the penetraion. Lots of little pellets. Got to get my neighbor kid his first turkey now. He has been busy with baseball.
  2. Turkeyed Out

Well, after three dismal seasons in a row, this one has been great. I got into my blind at 6:30, only to have a turkey gobbling at 6:40. I made a soft call and he triple gobbled. He continued to gobble for 20 minutes, when a hen walked into my little food plot on the edge of a clearcut. She fed...
  3. Nine hunts, one dead bird

I went to the woods last Wednesday evening and hunted every morning and evening until last night. That was nine consecutive hunts, and even a few days where I slipped back out at noon for a couple of hours. This bird was taunting me, by showing up on my game camera when I was not in the woods...
  4. Pond construction and maintenance

Thanks, I have seen his name come up in other forums.
  5. Pond construction and maintenance

Thanks for the info. I have known these people for 20 years. They are locals and don't advertise. They have done other work for us, just never a pond. We have seen ponds they have built though, and they are nice. And yes, they own all of the proper equipment to do the job. We stumbled across...
  6. Pond construction and maintenance

The wife and I are looking at having a small pond built on our farm. We have had a pond builder mark it off and should be about one acre in size, with a 20/25 foot buffer around it. They would have to clear about 1.5 acres of woods, which drives the price up, but it really is the ideal location...
  7. 2024 turkey rigs

I have several gun chaps for various rifles and shotguns. Some of them are the old original design, but still work great at protecting the wood.
  8. 2024 turkey rigs

Thanks for your input. Looks like the choke that I was leaning towards was the .565 extended, and the Longbeard is a .568 extended and ported, so either should work pretty good. I like the ability to possibly use TSS in the future. Originally, I couldn't find the Longbeard with the thread that I...
  9. 2024 turkey rigs

So, I have been researching chokes for this little Weatherby that I am trying to set up for my neighbor's kid. It looks like I am probably going to go with a Carlson choke. They make a regular extended choke in .555 and .565 constriction, but also make a TSS version with a .555, and are almost...
  10. The Day Pontiac Died

Have owned this Pontiac for 45 years. Factory 455/4speed, fully restored.
  11. Burning

Hard to say, as we were widening existing roads and making some new ones. Most mulching guys I talked with said they could do about two acres in eight hours, depending on size and density of the trees being cleared.
  12. Burning

$2700.00 for 14 hours, and worth every bit of it.
  13. Burning

No burning, but just had a mulcher on the property for two days. It sure made things more accessible, and gave us some shooting lanes.
  14. Please add my dad to your prayer lists. Updated 3-1-2024 See post #122 please.

Absolutely, prayers for your Dad and family.
  15. 2024 turkey rigs

My neighbor is wanting to take his 7 year old son turkey hunting this year, but doesn't have a 20 gauge, so I am trying to help him out. I have a Weatherby PA 459 20 gauge home defense that I think would work for him, however, it has the ported, screw in cylinder choke. I also have several boxes...
