Damn right I say tomato! Who are the weirdos that say it the other way?
Use to have a neighbor that loved tomatoes, he'd eat them like you would an apple. If yall grow your own you know with all the varieties they aren't all as tart as what the selection is in the grocers.

My 4 year old grandson also eats them like they are apples
That’s exactly what he does straight off the vine, he loves them
Been a long time since I enjoyed a homegrown tomater.
Picked off the vine, rinsed, and then sliced and lightly salted.
Truly one of life's blessings. Particularly when you have fresh
bread, bacon, and crisp lettuce to go with it.

That's why I grow grape tomatoes, just pick'em and eat'em.
I need salt to eat most raw vegetables,
but eating a tomato I just biting into it like an apple is very good as long as you sprinkle it with salt in between every two or three bites.
