There are websites you can put in the serial number and get the date of manufacture, that can help with determining a value, plus condition of the bore, any pitting, wood condition and any refinishing attempts (harms the value).
gun broker can give you a general idea but look at actual sales, not what things are listed for as there are lots of things on there like the ODT where the prices are stupid high.
valuing older rifles is difficult. I"ve got an old winchester 92 in 32WS that I might sell in the future, but figuring out a value seems to be difficult (I've seen them from $700-3500).
