Winchester 94Ae misfiring

Guys, I recently bought a beautiful clean 94 Winchester AE, made in 1975. At the range it is not firing about two out of three rounds. It will fire on the second primer hit. These rounds are with winchester primers, and they work perfect thru my Encore and Marlin 30-30. I am guessing I need a new hammer spring. Do you agree? Wallace in Ga

I agree…..someone before you tampered with it in an effort to improve the trigger.

Could be a few different things, so best to start with the cheapest/easiest fix first.

1. Make sure it’s clean and there are no obstructions with the firing pin, or on the face of the bolt.

2. Hammer / main spring

3. Firing pin

Those are the cheapest, easiest things to correct first.

Old oil that has dried. Common in old guns.
