The Springfield TRP is a jewel. I had one but it was long slide. It was tight, accurate and very well made. I have a Remington R-1 Hunter. It's long slide and it's a great gun but I totally rebuilt the entire gun with WC parts. If it was me I would opt for the Springer. Forged components just make the gun feel more solid. The frame and slide are both forged as opposed to some that have a cast frame with forged slide. If you can find somewhere that has both pick them both up and rack the slide and listen to the sound it makes. The Ruger sounds hollow and has a clinking noise whereas the Springfield has a nice, tight, solid feel and sound. Plus the Springfield has a hammer forged Barrel and the Ruger SR1911 has broached barrel. Just a couple things to consider. By all means go and handle them both and see which you prefer. Not saying the Ruger is a bad gun I just feel that the Springfield is a better gun for the money.
